Dr Brighid Golden of the Department of Learning, Society and Religious Education at Mary Immaculate College has launched a podcast series aimed students, teachers, and anyone interested in how global citizenship education is implemented in different settings.
Curious and Critical GCE was developed to accompany her recently published book on the topic and will consist of 12 themed episodes Brighid speaks to educators about their experiences; participants include some of the authors who contributed to the book as well as others involved more broadly in the area of global citizenship.
Funded by the DICE Project (Development and Intercultural Education), the series is available on Spotify but is also set to air on MIC radio station Wired 99.9FM weekly and will be hosted on the DICE website.
MIC Geography lecturer Dr Anne Dolan has been selected as the recipient of this year’s Mid-West Regional Teaching Excellence Award. The Galway native has been chosen for the award in recognition of her outstanding practice in higher education teaching. The annual awards are a collaborative competition between MIC, UL and TUS Mid-West, with academics from the three institutions entering detailed teaching portfolios which demonstrate evidence of their own excellent practice.
Mary Immaculate College (MIC) lecturer Dr Eóin Flannery is to take up a prestigious position at Montreal’s Concordia University. Dr Flannery, who lectures in MIC’s Department of English Language & Literature, will spend the Autumn semester at the University as the Peter O’Brien Visiting Scholar, an invite only position, which brings a distinguished scholar to teach within the programmes of the School of Irish Studies.
A Mary Immaculate College (MIC) led integration project is supporting schools in recognising and celebrating the diversity of the modern classroom. EDNIP (Embracing Diversity, Nurturing Integration Project) works with five primary schools in Limerick City to deliver a strategic and systemic programme to foster inclusion and build a strong and vibrant school community.
