There were celebratory scenes at Mary Immaculate College (MIC) this week as over 1,800 graduates were conferred with academic awards across the College’s 50+ undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Education and the Liberal Arts in the institution’s 125th anniversary year.
Three days of on-campus conferring ceremonies saw graduates from across Ireland and five continents being honoured for a variety of achievements and journeys “filled with challenges, triumphs, and countless memories which will remain with you for a lifetime” as Prof. Niamh Hourigan, Acting President of MIC, eloquently put it.

GAA players who have applied for a postgraduate place at Mary Immaculate College (MIC) are being encouraged to apply for the MIC GPA Scholarship scheme. The scholarship, held in conjunction with the Gaelic Players Association (GPA) is open to any GPA member who applies for and is accepted to one of MIC’s postgraduate programmes in Education and the Liberal Arts. Two scholarships are available annually, at least one of which will be awarded to a female player.
The President of the GAA has praised the enduring work of educators in the promotion and development of Gaelic games, as he launched a new GAA Centre of Excellence at Mary Immaculate College (MIC) in Limerick. The MIC Munster GAA Centre of Excellence in Child Coaching and Gaelic Games Promotion was officially launched by Uachtarán CLG, Larry McCarthy, on Wednesday 18 January. The Centre of Excellence is the result of a new partnership between MIC and Munster GAA which ultimately aims to promote, develop and enhance Gaelic games and coach education within education from pre-school to post-primary level.
President of the GAA, Jarlath Burns reaffirmed his commitment to giving third level Gaelic Games competitions a “proper place” in the association as he launched the MIC Gaelic Games Club on Monday 22 April.

MIC is registered with the Garda National Vetting Bureau for the provision of Garda Vetting services. In January 2008, the College introduced Garda Vetting for all students over the age of 18 years who have substantial unsupervised access to children and/or vulnerable adults during the course of their studies at MIC.
