Four MIC graduates, who were the first people on the island of Ireland to attain a Masters Degree in Autism Studies, were recently invited by Uachtarán na hÉireann, Michael D. Higgins and his wife, Sabina, to attend a garden party at Áras an Uachtaráin, the theme of which was ‘Celebrating Communities in all their Diversities’.
Carmel Rainsford, Kayren Hayes, Noelle Foley Coughlan and Sarah Mooney are graduates of the MA in Autism Studies, jointly run by Mary Immaculate College (MIC) and the Middletown Centre for Autism. Their collective accomplishments mark a significant milestone in the field of autism research and education in Ireland.
Four MIC graduates have been presented with an MIC Alumni of the Year award for 2022 in recognition of their achievements in their chosen fields. BBC commissioning editor, Tommy Bulfin; former Irish Rugby captain, Ciara Griffin; RTÉ political correspondent, Micheál Lehane; and Google Ireland’s Director of People Operations, Helen Tynan, were all presented with their awards at the annual MIC Awards Ceremony on Tuesday 28 November. The ceremony, held at the Lime Tree Theatre on MIC’s Limerick campus, also saw almost €500,000 in scholarships and bursaries awarded to 130 students and graduates on the basis of their academic performance.

Mary Immaculate College (MIC) has reaffirmed its commitment to widening access to higher education for those most distanced from access to higher education opportunities, for reasons linked to age, nationality, ethnicity and socio-economic or cultural attributes with the re-launch of the free Pre-University Programme (PUP). The programme offered by MIC’s Academic Learning Centre (ALC), in conjunction with Our Lady of Lourdes Community Services Group, is aimed at mature learners over the age of 22 and begins on the 18 of October. This will be the first of two Pre-University Programmes delivered by MIC this year with a second starting in mid-March.

Learn about the Department of French Studies at MIC, which provides undergraduate degree courses in French language, literature and culture to approximately 200 students currently enrolled in the BA in Liberal Arts and the B Ed in Primary Teaching programmes. It also offers supervision to graduate students at both MA and PhD level.

A final-year student and five Mary Immaculate College (MIC) graduates have been celebrated for their work in the Irish radio industry at the IMRO Radio Awards in Kilkenny recently. A further four graduates were among those shortlisted for honours at the ceremony which took place in Lyrath on Friday.
