Learn about Mary Immaculate College’s tradition of hosting Artists-in-Residents and how four well-known practitioners and an established theatre company create and stage work on-campus in conjunction with MIC students, staff and the Lime Tree Theatre.

Arts+STEM Hub, an interdisciplinary research space in MIC, aims to generate innovative projects by bringing together expertise from the Arts Education and Physical Education Department and the Department of STEM Education. The hub fosters a vibrant culture of collaborative research, with its capacity strengthened through funding from the Higher Education Research Equipment Grant.

Art, in its many media, plays a part in both the academic programmes and extracurricular activities in Mary Immaculate College. MIC strives to enrich the lives of students and staff through introducing art into the surroundings, hosting cultural events and fostering an atmosphere where the community can express itself. Through the College Art Collection, its Artists-in-Residence, its regular exhibitions, its focus on the Irish language/Gaeilge, the Lime Tree Theatre on the Limerick campus and its long tradition of the performing arts, MIC strives to embrace the arts and culture in all its forms.

Learn about the Department of Arts Education and Physical Education at MIC which includes four specialist teams in the areas of Drama Education, Music Education, Visual Art Education and Physical Education. The staff of this department lecture in these areas across both undergraduate and postgraduate level programmes.

A dozen events including workshops, live performances, exhibitions and lectures were held at Mary Immaculate College on Tuesday 28 March as part of this year's Arts for All day. This year's event was held to coincide with MIC's schedule of events as part of Limerick Lifelong Learning Festival 2023.

The Ashling Murphy Memorial Entrance Scholarship is jointly awarded by Mary Immaculate College and the Irish National Teachers' Organisation (INTO) to the amount of €4,000, which will be a bursary awarded to a first year Bachelor of Education student for their exceptional achievement (solo, ensemble and in the community) and talent in the field of traditional Irish music.

The Audio Research Centre of MIC was established by the Media and Communications Studies Department as a hub for researchers, broadcasters, technologists and creative practitioners in the field of sound.

MIC Limerick Campus has an extensive audio-visual collection which is held on the first floor of the library.
