This interdisciplinary research space in MIC aims to generate innovative projects by bringing together expertise from the Arts Education and Physical Education Department and the Department of STEM Education. The Lab fosters a vibrant culture of collaborative research, with its capacity strengthened through funding from the Higher Education Research Equipment Grant.
About Arts+STEM Lab
The Arts+STEM Lab unites Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics, to inspire interdisciplinary learning and research. Guided by Ireland’s Primary Curriculum Framework - while extending far beyond it into post-primary and wider educational contexts - the Lab fosters creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving through innovative projects, workshops, and evidence-informed practice. Its work links learning environments with real-world challenges, supports emerging technologies and creative methodologies, and opens new avenues for research across the Arts and STEM disciplines. By nurturing curiosity and interdisciplinary thinking, the Lab empowers learners, educators, and researchers to imagine and shape more inclusive, sustainable, and future-focused worlds.
