MIC’s innovative and customisable Master of Education is now offered with a range of new specialisms
Mary Immaculate College (MIC) is delighted to announce the launch of a diverse range of new specialisms on its popular Master of Education (M Ed), making it one of the most distinctive programmes of its kind in the country. The existing modular design enables students to register for specific core M Ed modules and select others from an exciting range of eleven new specialisms in areas as varied as STEM Education and Education and the Law, thus accumulating credits in a flexible way. The customised nature of the programme, which is offered on a full-time (one-year) or part-time (two-years), allows for flexible, agile and individualised learning pathways.
According to Dr Emma O’Brien, Director of Taught Postgraduate Studies in Education at MIC: “The Level 9 modular M Ed with Specialisms is designed for all those interested in enhancing their professional knowledge, understanding and skills in education. With the addition of the new specialisms, students have even more flexibility to build their own customised M Ed by choosing from the available modules that best suit their own professional needs, research areas, personal interests and mode of learning.”
Mary Immaculate College (MIC) and the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO) have today (Friday) launched an entrance scholarship in memory of Ashling Murphy. The Ashling Murphy Scholarship was launched at the INTO Education Conference at the Tullamore Court Hotel. The Ashling Murphy Scholarship is jointly award by MIC and the INTO to the amount of €4,000, which will be a bursary awarded to a first year Bachelor of Education student for their exceptional achievement and talent in the field of traditional Irish music.

The Mary immaculate College (MIC) Senior Ladies’ Gaelic Football team has brought the Giles Cup back to the College as 2025 champions, following a decisive win against University College Dublin (UCD).
The AIG Giles Cup final took place 15 March 2025, with MIC Limerick defeating UCD with a score of 3-9 to 1-8. It was MIC’s fourth time to claim the title since 2010, having won in 2012, 2014, 2022 and now 2025. MIC player Lydia McDonagh, who scored two goals, was named Player of the Match.
Mary Immaculate College (MIC), as a leading teacher education provider, is delighted to launch its summer suite of Continuing Professional Development courses aimed at both primary and post-primary teachers. This year’s schedule of courses includes Gaelic Games in the Primary School – Advanced; Integrated arts: an integrated arts approach to storytelling; Integrating Robotics Across the Primary School Curriculum; and Teckno - Open A New Chapter in Technology.
