The event is hosted in association with the Irish Institute of Catholic Studies at MIC, and features an immersive installation by Dr Nora Donnelly —visual artist, art critic and former lecturer in Art Education at MIC—who reimagines the legendary journey of St Brendan through soundscape and spatial experience.

American Conference for Irish Studies (ACIS) will take place at Mary Immaculate College 17 - 21 June 2024. The theme of the conference is 'Embracing Change, Navigating Uncertainty: Ireland and New Beginnings'. We hope to examine how academic disciplines in Irish Studies are looking to embrace the changes and how they are navigating paths towards new beginnings. This is true of our relationship with Europe; our relationship with the UK; new modes of writing, film and performance; the use of social media as a public forum as well as a new performative space; the flourishing in women’s writing especially in poetry and the novel; new beginnings in historicising all aspects of the Irish past; new beginnings in voicing what was hitherto unvoiced in Irish political social, cultural and religious life; new beginnings in reinventing the Irish language and culture; the overall embrace of a 21st century sense of Irishness, and what it means to be Irish.

Hosted in partnership by Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick and Technological University of the Shannon, and in association with the National Academic Integrity Network, this conference will explore the relationship between Generative AI and Academic Integrity within the Higher Education (HE) sector.

Playwright and drama facilitator Liam McCarthy was recently appointed as the Theatre Artist in Residence at Mary Immaculate College (MIC). As part of the residency, which is supported by the Arts Council, the Limerick native will oversee numerous community engagement projects and perform a number of shows, including his own play, Fergal.

A ground-breaking free public conference at Mary Immaculate College (MIC) on Wednesday 8 March (International Women’s Day) will highlight the plight of women in Afghanistan since the takeover of the Taliban and chronicle their experiences.

MIC will reopen applications to its Professional Masters of Education (PME) from Monday 27 May to Monday 10 June in order to allow prospective applicants to take the TEG B1 Oral Exam on 17 and 18 May. A minimum of 65% must be obtained in the B1 Oral TEG exam to be eligible to apply for the PME Programme. Prospective applicants for the PME can apply for the programme when applications reopen on 27th May, even though the TEG results will not be available until late June.
