Welcome to Mary Immaculate College! You have already accomplished a great deal in getting into this College and we hope that you are very pleased with your choice. MIC has a reputation for excellence in teaching, learning and research, as well as plenty of opportunities to get involved in sporting, cultural and social activities. You have so much to look forward to over the next few years.

MIC Limerick Campus: Orientation will commence Monday 20 September 2021, with the ‘Welcome to Campus’ visits. Over the course of the next week, MIC Limerick and Thurles will welcome groups of new entrants (max of 70 students attending each session); these groups will be further subdivided into 'pods' of approximately 10.

You will be assigned a time for your ‘Welcome’ visit on enrolment. These details will be sent to your MIC email address.

The schedule for these visits for the MIC Limerick campus is as follows: 

  • Meet MISU Tour Guide and allocated group or pod at the entrance to the TARA building at assigned time.   
  • Each MISU tour guide will remain with a pod for the duration of their campus visit.  
  • Welcome address by Dean of Faculty or Course Leader and finish with talk by MISU, information on how to register for clubs and societies (30-35 minutes) in TARA Forum. 
  • Go on a Campus Tour which will stop in Computer Labs to ensure all students can access their email. In addition, BA (Liberal Arts) students will register for a compulsory module, Skills for Study and Work 1.

Total time on campus: 1.45 hours approx.

Please note that if you are studying for one of the following programmes located in the Faculty of Arts (BA in Contemporary and Applied Theatre Studies-MI001 or Bachelor of Arts-MI002) and have difficulty with the scheduling of your assigned ‘Welcome’ visit, please contact: ArtsOffice@mic.ul.ie.

Please note that if you are studying for one of the following programmes located in the Faculty of Education (BA in Early Childhood Care and Education-MI007; Bachelor of Education-MI005/MI006; Bachelor of Education – International-MI004; and B Ed in Education and Psychology-MI008) and have difficulty with the scheduling of your assigned ‘Welcome’ visit, please contact: EducationOffice@mic.ul.ie.

Virtual orientation for students on the Limerick campus will take place on Thursday 23 and Friday 24 September (ahead of the semester start date on 27 September). The schedules can be found in the tab to the right. Please be advised that virtual orientation can be accessed via the links on the orientation schedule. For example, to join the Welcome Address with the College President at 9.30am, you simply click on Welcome Address in the schedule. You will not be able to access these links before the date of your scheduled session.

MIC Thurles Campus: Orientation for incoming first years will take place during the week commencing 20 September on evenings 5-8pm. Over the course of the week, MIC Thurles will welcome groups of new entrants (max of 50 students attending each session); these groups will be further subdivided into 'pods' of approximately 12-15. The aim is to familiarise students with the campus and to provide opportunities for them to meet their peers. 

Each session will commence with a welcome address by Head of School. Each group of 12-15 will go on a Campus Tour which will stop in Computer Labs to ensure all students can access their email. New entrants will also visit the Library where there will be a short briefing by the Librarian.

MIC Limerick Campus: Reorientation will run from Wednesday 1 to Friday 3 September 2021, with ‘Welcome Back to Campus’ visits. Over the course of the week, MIC Limerick will welcome groups of returning students (max of 70 students attending each session); these groups will be further subdivided into 'pods' of approximately 10. The schedule for these visits for the MIC Limerick campus is as follows: 

  • Meet MISU Tour Guide and allocated group or pod at the entrance to the TARA building at assigned time.   
  • Each MISU tour guide will remain with a pod for the duration of their campus visit.  
  • Welcome address by Dean of Faculty or Course Leader and talk by MISU (25 mins) in TARA Forum. 
  • Go on a Campus Tour.

Total time on campus: 1 hour approx.

MIC Thurles Campus: Re-orientation on MIC Thurles campus will take place during week 1 of Semester. It will include a welcome address from the Head of School; tours of campus; introduction to academic staff and support staff and a Health and Safety briefing. Further details will be communicated to students in advance of the commencement of the semester. 

Academic staff and the various student support staff will be introduced to each cohort. Each session will also include a Health and Safety briefing. There will be an opportunity for students to register for clubs and societies during the evening.
