School visits commencing this September
As part of the work of the WoNDER Centre, families and practitioners can book a consultation with Dr Fionnuala Tynan for support or advice. At the start of each school year, you can contact the WoNDER Centre (see the contact page and fill out the form). Consultations can be organised as an online call using Microsoft Teams or visits can be arranged to observe the child in their setting and make specific recommendations for support. Priority is given to pupils who have not been visited in the past, those in pre-school, those transitioning to a new setting and those experiencing significant difficulties. Visits for this term will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays or Fridays.
Organising a Visit
A parent or professional can make contact with the WoNDER Centre. Based on the child's current needs, a decision will be made on whether a visit to the setting is necessary.
Where a professional makes contact, we ask that they inform the child's parents. Professional development for staff can be provided and tailored for individual settings or professionals can have a question and answer session on line. Where a setting visit is deemed appropriate, the consultant will spend a full day in the setting observing the child and meeting with key personnel. A formal meeting can take place as part of this visit either inside or outside the child's hours in the setting. Parents can be included in this meeting or can be met separately.
The consultant will need to know the starting and finishing times of the setting, the Eircode and have a contact name and number.
