Sara is a lecturer in Education and member of the English Language and Literacy team in Mary Immaculate college. She graduated from Mary Immaculate college with a Bachelor of Education degree and following graduation worked as a primary school classroom teacher teaching various class levels. During this time Sara gained experience in different leadership and management roles including Principal, Deputy Principal and Assistant Principal II roles. Sara graduated with a Master of Education degree from Mary Immaculate college where her research focused on the impact of explicit instruction on comprehension development in a primary school classroom. She has also worked with various Education centres and the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) which involved the design and delivery of continuing professional development courses, in literacy education and digital technologies, to primary school teachers. Sara is currently undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy which is focusing on the impact of the Gradual Release of Responsibility on writing development in the primary school classroom.
