More information

Dr. Mary Moloney is an Associate Professor at Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, specializing in the intersection of early childhood policy, children's rights, and early childhood pedagogy and practice. With a career spanning practitioner, managerial, and academic roles, Mary brings a deeply practical lens to rights-based research and practice. Driven by her hands-on work with young children, early childhood students, and educators, she completed a Graduate Diploma in Children’s Rights and Participation, at Queen’s University Belfast to ground her practice in strong advocacy frameworks. An internationally recognized keynote speaker, Mary has championed children’s rights on global platforms, from the UK House of Lords to New Zealand. She has led vital national consultations with children for the Irish government and recently co-authored Babies’ and Toddlers’ Rights in Practice (2025). As the European Convener of the EECERA Professionalisation Special Interest Group, former President of OMEP Ireland, and current chairperson of CRANN, Mary is dedicated to bridging the gap between national policy, and real-world early childhood practice.
