We were delighted to welcome Mary Hayes from Women’s Aid on campus on 20 February 2024. We had a screening of a short film called Love Bomb – available below and on YouTube. We also held a panel discussion afterwards, with Women’s Aid, MIC Counselling and MIC Student’s Union contributing to the panel.
Mary was here to promote the Too Into You campaign which is focused on young people, in particular young women, aged 18-25. The campaign aims to teach young people about the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships, the red flags of relationship abuse, and provide support at their dedicated toointoyou.ie website for young people.
Intimate relationship abuse is abuse by a partner or ex-partner. This can include emotional, physical, sexual, online, financial abuse and coercive control.
Abuse is common. One in five young women aged 18-25 have been subjected to abuse by a current male partner or ex in Ireland. (source – toointoyou.ie).
