GATE Centre

The Graduate and Academic Teaching Enhancement (GATE) Centre is a collaborative initiative supported by the National Forum, LEAD, the RGS, MIC Estates & Sustainability and Finance. It exists to support the development of agency, confidence and capability in conceptualisation, initiation, creation, use and understanding of educational media at MIC.

The GATE Centre supports the development of confidence, agency and capability in the understanding, use, creation, implementation and critical evaluation of educational media.

The GATE Centre supports:

  • Professional Development: Developing individual and institutional capability in the understanding, use, creation and critical evaluation of educational media in support of teaching, learning, scholarship and academic communication
  • Experimentation: Enabling the investigation of media and how it may be purposefully used
  • Collaborative Engagement: Fostering professional learning, working together and sharing of practice and resources among the community who teach at MIC
  • Innovation: Building bridges between possibilities, ideas and implementation
  • Dissemination: Supporting the sharing of educational practice and scholarship to a wider audience through the scholarship of teaching and learning among other approaches
