About ACIS

The oldest and largest academic organisation dedicated to the study of Ireland and the Irish worldwide, the American Conference for Irish Studies (ACIS) was founded in 1960.

The American Conference for Irish Studies has been conducting meetings annually every year since 1963. These meetings are generally hosted in the United States by an academic institution, although approximately every fourth year ACIS will gather in an overseas location.

This will be the case again in 2024 when the largest gathering of the year will take place in Mary Immaculate College (MIC) in Limerick, Ireland.

Annual meetings consist of plenaries, panels, performances, roundtables, readings, and seminars. The organisation also holds its general membership and executive officer meetings at the annual conference.
