The WoNDER Centre invites expressions of interest from young people who would like to do their community work, as part of Gaisce, helping out with the work of the centre. Gaisce typically requires you to do one hour per week of unpaid work for your community involvement. The WoNDER Centre could link you to a family with a person with WS who you could work with (e.g., help them with homework, sing with them or go for a walk with them) or support socially (bring them to different events in the community). You could also teach them a skill if they wanted to learn something specific. If you would rather, the WoNDER Centre would also welcome your voluntary work with research projects. This could involve doing literature searches or making resources. Members of the WoNDER board are also President Award Leaders and would be happy to talk to you about this. Remember, Gaise is the highest award for young people in Ireland ... go for it!
