Professor Jane Stadler is an experienced academic researcher and educator whose senior leadership roles have included Dean of Graduate Research at the University of New England, Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning), Chair of the Department of Media and Communication at Swinburne University of Technology, Head of the School of Communication at Queensland University of Technology, and Director of Higher Degrees by Research at The University of Queensland. Recognised as a distinguished teacher, she has received five University teaching awards from Murdoch University, the University of Cape Town, and the University of Queensland, culminating in the Australian Learning and Teaching Council National Award for Teaching Excellence (2011), Australia’s highest honour for a university teacher. With more than two decades of experience spanning university leadership, research, and teaching in film and philosophy, media and cultural studies, she has established an international reputation for scholarship and research training. Having supervised 26 PhD and MPhil students to completion, she considers the success of her students to be the most rewarding aspect of her career. Professor Stadler’s research accomplishments include four authored books, two co-edited books, seven edited journal collections, and over 50 peer-reviewed research papers. She has secured seven competitive grants and fellowships and earned research funding from the Australian Research Council (DP10100309), the Oppenheimer Foundation, and the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education. Over 30 conference keynotes and visiting professorships at the University of California, Berkeley (2005) and Hong Kong Baptist University (2019) contribute to her international research reputation.
