Mary Immaculate Dramatic Arts Society (MIDAS) celebrates its 25-year anniversary this year with their production of Legally Blonde: The Musical.
Taking place at the Lime Tree Theatre, Mary Immaculate College (MIC) Limerick from 3 to 5 April, this year’s show promises to be a tribute to a quarter-century of student-led musical theatre at MIC.
Since its founding in 1999, MIDAS has provided students with a platform to showcase their theatrical talents while bringing high-quality productions to Limerick. The society has consistently been a cornerstone of MIC’s extra-curricular offerings, winning a number of prestigious Board of Irish College Societies (BICS) awards in the time since its inception, including ‘Best Society’ on five separate occasions. Numerous renowned performing artists, both locally and nationally, were involved with MIDAS during their time at MIC.
MIDAS Chairperson, Adam Stapleton, shared his excitement for the milestone production: "Being part of this year's MIDAS production has been an incredible experience, and it’s even more special knowing we’re marking 25 years of this amazing society at MIC. There’s something truly special about coming together with such a talented and passionate cast and crew to bring a story to life on stage. I can’t wait for audiences to see the hard work and heart we’ve poured into this show."
Clubs & Societies Coordinator with Mary Immaculate Students’ Union (MISU), Dave Cuddihy, also highlighted the significance of this year’s performance:
