Dr Keith Young visits University of Warsaw to Discuss Institutional Responses to Generative AI

In June 2025, as part of his ongoing work on artificial intelligence, education, and society, Dr Keith Young, Assistant Professor in ICT/Digital Learning at MIC visited colleagues at the University of Warsaw. The visit focused on how educational institutions are responding and adapting to the existence of generative AI tools.
In particular, discussions explored how institutional and departmental policies are being developed, how generative AI is shaping assessment practices and how innovative pedagogical approaches are beginning to emerge in response to these technologies.
As part of the visit, Dr Young was invited by Dr Marek Smulczyk and Dr Paulina Marchlik to speak with students on the theme of AI in the Social Space, exploring issues of interaction, trust, and learning in the age of generative AI.
The session generated an engaging discussion and Q&A, with students raising questions around the legal, ethical and environmental implications of AI, as well as the role of AI tools in schools and education more broadly. A particular highlight was the students’ critical awareness of the challenges associated with generative AI, while also remaining open and forward-thinking about its potential.
The visit forms part of Dr Young’s wider work on AI in education, including AI literacy, teacher education, responsible use, assessment, institutional policy, and the implications of generative AI for learning, teaching, and educational practice.
