Meet the MIC International Student Ambassadors 2026

Dear MIC Community,

We are delighted to introduce ourselves as your new International Student Ambassadors for the Autumn 2026 term! Having arrived from different corners of the globe, we share a unified commitment: representing Mary Immaculate College and, most importantly, supporting and connecting our vibrant student community, Irish and international alike. Throughout this semester, our goal is to bring students together through various events and meetings within the International Student Society. We look forward to meeting you all and sharing our experiences across the term. But before we meet you, we would like you to meet us!

John

Hello, my name is John Davis. I was originally born in Warsaw, Poland, and have lived in the United States since 2008.  My home University is located in Omaha, Nebraska, called Creighton University. I am seeking a bachelor's degree in communications alongside a minor in graphic design. Omaha might not be well-known, but it brings out the midwestern charm Nebraska has to offer. Knowing Omaha so well, I take advantage of seeing the United States ' highest-rated zoo at the Henry Doorly Zoo. The beauty of the summer and cold, unpredictable winters is what I call home.
In my free time, I like to challenge myself physically and mentally. I go on hikes and canoe in Arkansas with my friends. I am always hungry to learn more and present myself with new skills such as marketing techniques and creative storytelling. One year ago, I spent a semester living in Seoul, South Korea. My experience and the wonderful people I met along the way opened my eyes to the wonders of international traveling. I will come from the other side of the North Atlantic Ocean ready to help welcome you to MIC. Our goals, our personalities, and the relationships we have are what shape us into who we are today. The wonderful culture of Ireland, with its scenic views, tasty food, and hospitable people, will bring an unforgettable experience to us all. From every corner of the globe, we will have a life-changing experience that will remain in our hearts forever.

Hello everyone!
My name is Ngoc Anh, but you can also call me Claire. I am delighted to introduce myself as an International Student Ambassador at Mary Immaculate College for this semester!
I come from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, a vibrant city known for its rich history, diverse and delicious cuisine, and especially the warmth and hospitality of its people. As someone who loves sharing cultures and connecting with others, I am excited to bring a little piece of Vietnam to the international community here at MIC.
This is my first time coming to Ireland, so everything feels new and exciting to me! There are still so many things for me to learn, discover, and experience from Irish culture and traditions to the beautiful landscapes and everyday life here. One of my very first impressions of Ireland has been the people: they are incredibly nice, welcoming, and friendly. Their warmth and hospitality actually remind me of the people back home in Vietnam, and that has made my first experience here even more special.
At the same time, while I am here to learn, I also hope to share. I have experience working as an English teacher in Vietnam, and I look forward to sharing my perspectives, experiences, and stories with fellow students from different backgrounds. I strongly believe that international education is not only about studying in a new country, but also about learning from one another, exchanging cultures, and creating meaningful connections.
As an International Student Ambassador, I hope to support and connect with other students, especially those who may be experiencing life in Ireland for the first time, just like me. I am excited to explore this beautiful country, learn more about its culture, and create unforgettable memories with people from all around the world.
I believe that every person has a unique story to share, and I can't wait to hear yours while sharing mine.

Hi, I’m Nicole! I’m originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, and I’m joining Mary Immaculate College this September as an MA in Media Studies student and International Student Ambassador. My journey as an international student actually started almost two years ago, when I moved to Ireland to study English. Since then, I’ve been discovering what it means to build a life and a sense of belonging in a new country. One step at a time! 
Before moving to Ireland, I studied Public Relations and worked for several years in communications, particularly within a Smart Cities platform in Brazil. My work has always been closely connected to storytelling, people and communities. Becoming an International Student Ambassador feels especially meaningful to me because I know what it’s like to arrive somewhere new and wonder where you fit in. Sometimes, having someone share an honest experience, recommend a place or simply say “I’ve been there too” can make a huge difference. I can't wait to start this new chapter at MIC, connecting with fellow international students, hearing their stories, and building something together along the way. I'm excited for what's ahead, and I hope to see you around MIC!

Dear MIC Community,
My name is Theresa and I have come a short way (in comparison to others) from Giessen, Germany, where I study at the Justus Liebig University. I am currently in my fifth bachelor semester of the combined study programme “Intercultural Communication and Business”, which consists of the subjects economics, English, French and labour law. Giessen is a smaller town close to Frankfurt with all the best Germany has to offer: beautiful forests all around it, roaming hills and very good bread. As I am a very outdoorsy person, I enjoy being surrounded by greenery – one very big reason why I am convinced that Ireland was the right choice for my semester abroad. During a student exchange, I have had the opportunity to visit Ireland before, and I fell in love with the Galway/Limerick region, as well as the Irish culture and the people’s friendliness – another reason why I chose MIC specifically. 
At home, I like reading and running, painting and baking. Even though I love my hometown very much, I have always been fond of travelling and getting to know other cultures. I have travelled to many countries before, but being here in Ireland, being here at MIC is an invaluable experience that I will try to cherish. I am excited to travel, to learn about Ireland’s culture and history and to meet the (Inter)National community at MIC.
I know that going abroad for some time is not always easy, but we can all be very proud of ourselves, because we have already done the hardest thing: Leaving. Now we can look forward to our time in Ireland, to making countless new friends and to enjoying our new community - to which everyone will contribute in their own wonderful way, I am sure. See you around!
