Off-Campus Placement

Off-Campus Placement takes place in Year 3 and is a unique and fully accredited component of the Faculty of Arts degree programmes at MIC's Limerick Campus. This programme provides students with an abundance of opportunities to enhance their skills, knowledge and employability through practical work placements, both in Ireland and abroad, as well as offering the chance to study abroad in one of our many partner universities in Europe, the United States and further afield.

About Off-Campus Placement

Off-Campus Placement is a unique part of all Faculty of Arts programmes at MIC. During your placement semester(s), you'll have the opportunity to put what you've learned in the classroom into practice in a real work environment; gain valuable experience, explore different career paths, and develop skills that will help you stand out to future employers.

You can also take advantage of study and work abroad opportunities, allowing you to experience new cultures, build your confidence, and enhance your language skills.

Placement is designed to be both a rewarding and valuable part of your degree journey. The Placement Office team is here to support you every step of the way and help you make the most of your experience.

Students can choose from the following three main placement categories:

  1. Work placement in Ireland: MIC Placement Office is connected to a vast network of organisations, across a broad range of economic sectors that facilitate student placements.
  2. Work placement Abroad: These options are mainly education-related placements such as TEFL and Language Assistantships in Europe. Students can avail of EU funding in the form of an Erasmus+ grant for traineeships undertaken with eligible host organisations/enterprises.
  3. Study Abroad: Students can choose from a large range of study abroad partner universities in Europe, North, South and Central America, Australia, China, Africa and Japan.
