PPLI German Language Upskilling for Primary Teachers will be delivered by Mary Immaculate College (MIC), in partnership with PPLI/Languages Connect (fully funded by the Department of Education & Youth). This blended programme is designed to support primary teachers who wish to build their confidence and competence in teaching German to pupils.
Prepare for the introduction of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) in Irish Primary Schools.
Blended course: 20 hours over 10 weeks
The course is free for primary teachers registered with the Teaching Council. Participants will gain an official certificate of completion.

Public Lecture on the Irish writer Elizabeth Shaw
The Embassy of Ireland in Berlin will host a public lecture on the author/illustrator Elizabeth Shaw on Friday 21 November.
The lecture, "Famous in East Germany, Unknown in Ireland: The Belfast-Born Author and Illustrator Elizabeth Shaw (1920-1992) and her Memoir How I Came to Berlin", will be given by Associate Professor Sabine Egger (Mary Immaculate College) and Apl. Professor Fergal Lenehan (University of Jena), who have recently published a book on the writer Elizabeth Shaw.

Book Launch
The Lilliput Press will launch "How I Came To Berlin: An Artist’s Journey from Belfast and the London Blitz to a Cold-War City" by Elizabeth Shaw, edited by Sabine Egger and Fergal Lenehan, at Books Upstairs, near Trinity College Dublin on Wednesday, 17 September at 5pm.
