National Disability Authority Research Promotion Scheme (Community Integration) 2017: Open for Applications

The NDA Research Promotion Scheme (Community Integration) 2017 is now open for applications. The focus of research topics for this year is: ‘The effective promotion and support of community integration of people with disabilities’. Closing date for receipt of applications is:  12 noon on 29th September 2017. Full details are in the Terms and Guidelines and Application Form attached here. Call for Participation in the 2nd SCoTENS Doctoral Studies Roundtable

The Standing Conference on Teacher Education North and South (SCoTENS) invites proposals for participation and working papers at the 2nd SCoTENS Doctoral Studies Roundtable.  The Roundtable will provide a mix of short presentations by participants on their work in progress and from speakers who are leaders in the field of Teacher Education and related research in Ireland and beyond.  It will be held in conjunction with the 15th Annual SCoTENS Conference, which takes place on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 October 2017 in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dundalk. This Roundtable will bring together doctoral researchers working on topics relating to teachers, teaching, and teacher education in its broadest readings on the island of Ireland.  Proposals for presentations are due Friday, 22 September. 2018 Charlemont Grants now open

The Charlemont Grants are unique in that they offer young Irish researchers the opportunity to travel internationally, make important connections and further their research networks in any discipline. The scheme is open to postdoctoral researchers who are not more than seven years past the awarding of their PhDs at the start of the term of the grant period. Travel grants are available for up to €2,500 for a clearly defined piece of research, which will have an identifiable outcome on the completion of the project. Submission deadline: 23:55 (GMT) on Wednesday, 11 October 2017. Full details here.

E-Tender for National Parents Council Primary (NPCP) - Parental Involvement in Learning

The NPCP is inviting tenders for two pieces of research. Part One A review of national and international literature on parent-school partnerships that support involvement and engagement of parents in their children’s learning during their primary school years. Part Two Case studies of good practice in parent-school partnerships in Ireland that support involvement and engagement of parents in their children’s learning during their primary school years. Deadline: October 9th 2017. For more details click here.

Collaborative Research Fellowships for a Responsive and Innovative Europe (CAROLINE) 2018

This scheme will provide experienced researchers with an opportunity to obtain a prestigious research mobility and career development fellowship. Successful candidates will carry out research either in Ireland or abroad.  CAROLINE will attract experienced researchers from any discipline to conduct research relevant to the themes of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for shared economic prosperity, social development, and environmental protection. A key feature of the programme is collaboration between the academic sector, non-governmental organisations and international organisations. Applicant deadline: 16.00 October 12th 2017. Ulysses 2017

The programme “Ulysses” is designed to support new research collaborations between Irish and French researchers. Support is provided for short visits to partner institutions and covers travel and subsistence costs. Applications involving researchers at an early stage of their academic career will be favourably received. The programme will fund applications across all fields of research. Dobbin Atlantic Scholarship Programme - Call for Applications

It is with great pleasure that we announce the call for applications for the 2017-18 Dobbin Atlantic Scholarship Programme. It is the objective of this programme to develop a new generation of academic, artistic, cultural and economic links between Atlantic Canada and Ireland. Scholarships will be awarded to Irish and Canadian applicants, in support of research trips between Ireland and the Atlantic provinces of Canada*, with the awards supporting research visits for a period of three to five weeks. Fulbright-HRB HealthImpact Award 2018

The Fulbright Commission and the Health Research Board are offering a unique opportunity for an Irish Professional with 5 years or more experience to travel to the U.S. to undertake research or professional development in any area of Health. 2018-19 FULBRIGHT IRISH AWARDS APPLICATION PERIOD NOW OPEN!

Fulbright Awards provide grants and support for postgraduate students, researchers, academics or professionals across all disciplines to study, research, or teach / lecture in the USA. Tusla: Request for Tenders for Consultancy Process / Implementation Study

This is a consultancy request by Tusla, Data & Information Hub Working Group (Chaired by Programme Manager, D & M Programme) for a formal process/implementation study of the Outcomes for Children (O4C): National Data & Information Hub Pilot Project.  The consultant(s) will provide formative support for the establishment of the study framework in addition to completion of the formal study itself in addition to presentation of final reports between March 2018 and June 2018.  Full details here

ERC pre-announces its 2018 grant competitions

The European Research Council (ERC) has pre-announced its 2018 Work Programme and grant competitions with a total budget of €1.86 billion. One of the programme's new elements is the reintroduction of Synergy Grants, the funding scheme for groups of two to four scientists who can jointly address ambitious research problems. Both the ERC Starting Grants and Synergy Grants calls are set to open on 3 August. Full details here

IRC Ulysses 2017 - Call now open

The programme facilitates the exchange of innovative ideas and approaches between Irish and French researchers and the development of mutual research projects involving young Irish researchers visiting France and reciprocal visits involving young French researchers to Ireland.  The programme offers grants of up to 2 x €2,500 to Irish and French Researchers to support visits linked to mutual research projects. Please note that the online system is now open for Caroline call 2. Application deadline is 4pm on 12th October. The call documentation including guides and indicative forms for all participants is available here.  The usual FAQ process will be in place for the call. The Value of the PhD - A joint QAA-UKCGE Seminar

These seminars on The Value of the PhD will focus on the doctoral student experience. Each event will highlight recent research into the value of the PhD and offer insight into the experiences of postgraduate students working in a range of discipline areas. Participants will be offered the opportunity to discuss the case studies and share good practice, relating innovative approaches in supporting PhD students. Full details here

2018 AERA Call for Submissions - Now Open

 The AERA 2018 Annual Meeting Call for Submissions opened on June 1. The deadline for submissions is 11:59 PM, Pacific Time, on July 24. 2017.  The 2018 Annual Meeting will be held on April 13-17, 2018 in New York City. CAROLINE 2018 (Call 2) pre-call announcement

The launch of Caroline Call 2 has been brought forward by several months, in response to feedback received from institutions as well as directly from applicants. We hope that a longer application window will be welcome and that it will enable strong collaboration of applicants and their mentors as well as more opportunities for proposal preparation support by Research Offices. Please note that a pre-call announcement for CAROLINE Call 2 has been published on the Council’s website. International Action Research Colloquium 2017 | 29-30 June 2017

The 7th annual International Action Research Colloquium on “Appreciating Action Research” is being held at UCD on June 29th and 30th 2017, with pre-colloquium activities on June 28th. This year Professor Danielle Zandee is the keynote speaker.  This years Masterclass will be held on June 28th, 16.00-18.00 and is titled "The Promise of Appreciative Inquire in Theory and Practice" - book your place here.  Further details here

Irish Research Council Laureate Awards 2017/18 programme - Letter of Support

This is a reminder to all applicants to the Laureate awards programme that it is the responsibility of applicants at all times to check FAQs and any other communication published by the Council.  This is particularly important as the Council reserves the right to amend the Terms and Conditions of the scheme, as is clearly stated in the Call document. The Letter of Support was amended on 11 May and this was flagged in the FAQs published on 12 May. The document on the website also clearly refers to the amendment and the date. Only the amended Letter of Support will be accepted as part of Laureate applications.  Full details here.

Grangegorman ABC Programme: Invitation to Tender

This tender is for the evaluation of the process of developing and implementing the Grangegorman Area-Based Childhood programme (2015-17). The project aim is to capture the learning from consortium members and stakeholders and develop recommendations for future collaboration/ implementation of initiatives. Irish Research Council Laureate Awards 2017/18 -Webinar

The Irish Research Council Laureate Awards programme is now open for applications. The closing date for submission of applications, via the online system, is 4pm on Thursday 29th June 2017. NORFACE Call is open

NORFACE and the Belmont Forum are inviting applications to the new transnational research programme on Transformations to Sustainability (T2S).  T2S will contribute to re-structuring the broad field of sustainability research by placing social science and humanities at the heart of interdisciplinary research in a step change in scale and scope for research programming on this topic. Enterprise Partnership Scheme 2017 - Pre Call Notice

The Irish Research Council is currently finalising details and Terms and Conditions for the 2017 Enterprise Partnership Scheme Postgraduate and Post-Doc Calls. For your information the indicative timelines are as follows: Call Opens – Mid March; Call Deadline – Early/Mid June; Panel Meeting -  Early September;  Contracts Issued – Mid September; Award Starts – January 2018. National Funding to Promote Integration of Immigrants

New funding opportunity for the Promotion of Migrant Integration. Minimum grant size is 5000 euro, max 100,000+ euro over max 3 years. The funding call includes funding for research on interculturalism and work on integration in schools.It is possible to have a joint application, whereby one organisation is selected as the lead with responsibility for signing the grant contract. SPHeRE PhD Recruitment

The SPHeRE PhD Programme in Population Health and Health Services Research (PHHSR) aspires to cultivate world-class researchers through a four year, full-time, structured PhD Programme. The Programme can also be undertaken over a longer time period on a part-time basis. Only applicants who intend to complete the Programme on a full-time basis are eligible to apply for funding, with a minimum of six funded scholarships available per year. National University of Ireland Irish historical research prize 

The National University of Ireland invites applications for its Irish historical research prize. This recognises new work of Irish historical research, published by a graduate of the National University of Ireland. The work must have been published in the period April 2014 to March 2017. The prize is worth €5,000. Closing date: 28th April 2017. Full details here

National University of Ireland Postdoctoral fellowship in the sciences 

The National University of Ireland invites applications for its postdoctoral fellowship in the sciences. This supports a postdoctoral candidate of proven academic excellence to advance their scholarly research. Applicants must be National University of Ireland science graduates of doctoral status, awarded no earlier than 1 January 2012.  The fellowship is worth €80,000 over a two-year period. National University of Ireland - Travelling studentships in the sciences, humanities and social sciences 

The National University of Ireland invites applications for its travelling studentships. These encourage the most able candidates in the NUI federal system to pursue research and to enable these candidates to undertake postgraduate research abroad, in the most reputable universities, towards a doctoral degree or as part of their doctoral studies. National University of Ireland Dr Mary L Thornton scholarship in education

The National University of Ireland invites applications for the Dr Mary L Thornton scholarship in education. This supports postgraduate research within the NUI in the field of education. Preference is given to research into Irish higher education, but applications are accepted for projects in any area of educational research. Applications are open to graduates holding any degree of the NUI who have been accepted, or have applied for admission, to a research degree at master's or doctoral level in the field of education in a constituent university or recognised college of NUI. The scholarship is worth €5,000. Closing date: 31st March 2017.  Full details here

Universities Ireland PhD history bursary 

Universities Ireland invites applications for its PhD history bursary. This supports students undertaking a PhD on a topic relating to the 1912 to 1923 period in Ireland, the decade of the First World War and the division of the island into the states of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Arts Council Deis recording and publication award

The Arts Council invites applications for its Deis recording and publication award. This supports traditional arts recording projects, or recording projects involving collaboration between the traditional arts and other art forms and projects centred on the publication of work. The Arts Council invites applications for its invitation to collaboration scheme. This supports initiatives of local authority led arts development, with an emphasis on partnerships that focus on developing projects, resources or services that are testing new ground. Council Artist in the community scheme 

The Arts Council and Create invites applications for its artist in the community scheme. This enables artists and communities to work together in projects in a diverse range of social and community contexts such as arts and health, arts in prisons, arts and older people and arts and cultural diversity. Science Foundation Ireland Science Week Call 2017 

Science Foundation Ireland is pleased to launch a Call for proposals for the organisation and management of regional Science Week festivals, events and a Dublin Open Day during Science Week which will take place from 12th to 19th November 2017. Universities Ireland North-South postgraduate scholarships 

Universities Ireland invites applications for its north-south postgraduate scholarships. These encourage students from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland to cross the border to carry out postgraduate study and experience life in the other Irish jurisdiction. The Employment Based Postgraduate Programme provides funding for companies to employ high-calibre postgraduate researchers to work onsite with them on product, service or process innovations. Arts Council - Visual arts bursary award

Applications are invited from professional-practising visual artists resident in the Republic of Ireland working in all genres and at all stages in their careers. Undergraduate or postgraduate students may not apply. The award is worth up to €15,000 for up to one year. Closing date: 19th January 2017.  Full details here

Arts Council Artist in the Community Scheme - Bursary Award 2016: Collaborative Film

CAPES Scholarship - Full PhD

Basic Research Excellence Award

The Irish Research Council invites applications for its basic research award. Funding is available via the INSPIRE consortium to enable access to equipment and infrastructure and for attendance at courses. The Arts Council invites applications for its travel and training award. This award supports the professional development of artists and others working professionally in the arts in Ireland. There are two strands to this award: travel and training outbound, and travel and training inbound. MSCA RISE 2016 Webinar

NORFACE: Dynamics of Inequality Across the Life-course: structures and processes (DIAL) - call for outline proposals

The Irish Research Council is delighted to announce that NORFACE is now inviting to its new transnational research programme on Dynamics of Inequality Across the Life-course: structures and processes (DIAL). The main focus of this research programme will be on understanding the dynamics of inequalities as they unfold over the life course, casual processes in relation to these inequalities, the impact on social cohesion and the identifications of opportunities for policy interventions. The official Call announcement and application documents are available here.

European Commission Research and Innovation Staff Exchange

The RISE funding scheme fosters staff exchange between the academic and the non-academic sector and between European and non-European countries.
Any discipline. 3 or more partners required. Organisations actively involved in research/innovation are invited to propose joint projects. Support is provided for the development of partnerships in the form of joint research and innovation activities between the participants. It has an overall budget of €80 million. Irish Research Council - Enterprise Partnership Scheme (EPS)

The next anticipated call for proposals will be February/March 2016, with a decision finalized late in 2016. We would then anticipate researchers commencing their projects in January 2017.
