The Medical Centre provides an emergency triage service for MIC student’s on-campus. We offer a private and confidential service weekdays during term time. It is a triage service for acute illnesses only. Students are advised to register with a local GP for the duration of their stay in Limerick. A list of local GPs is available from Student Union.

  • Located in Room T.3.07 on the third floor of the TARA building. Telephone 061 204343
  • Opening hours Monday to Friday 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm
  • To make a doctor’s appointment- student must meet with a nurse between 10am and 12pm.
  • Doctors’ appointments are in the afternoon between 2pm and 4pm.
  • There is a charge of €10 for students
  • Doctor’s appointment cannot be made over the telephone

What happens if the appointments are full?

If all the appointments are filled at the MIC medical Centre, Dr. Jim Fehily will see Mary I students in the Ashdown Medical Centre for a fee of €30 with their Mary I student card. Call for an appointment 061 301200. There is no charge for Medical Card and European Health Insurance Card holders

Out of Hours Service

Weekend and afterhours service is not provided by MIC Medical Centre. Students who need to see a doctor out of hours should contact Shannon Doc on 1850212999. This is a GP service which covers Limerick and surrounding areas.

Students who need urgent medical attention should proceed to the Casualty Department at the University Hospital Limerick which provide 24hour cover. Telephone 061 301111. Alternatively, St John’s Hospital opens 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday each week. Telephone 061 462222
