ABELL - Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature

Content: The Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature contains 860,000 records, covering monographs, periodical articles, critical editions of literary works, book reviews and collections of essays published anywhere in the world from 1920 onwards. This database is part of Literature Online

Content: A collection of over 1000 plays covering a wide range of genres from comedy to tragedy, Drama Online introduces new writers alongside the most iconic names in playwriting history, providing contextual and critical background through scholarly works and practical guides. It includes content from publishers like Faber & Faber, Arden Shakespeare, and Methuen Drama, with images from the V&A Museum’s Theatre


Early English Books Online - EEBO

Subject: Multidisciplinary, English, Literature
Content: Contains digital facsimile page images of virtually every work printed in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and British North America and works in English printed elsewhere from 1473-1700 - from the first book printed in English by William Caxton, through the age of Spenser and Shakespeare and the tumult of the English Civil War.

Encyclopédie

Content: Provides full text searchable access to Diderot and d'Alembert's Encyclopédie, with 17 volumes of text and 11 volumes of plates between 1751 and 1772


English Short Title Catalogue

Subject: Multidisciplinary, Literature
Content: Provides a description and holding libraries for items printed between 1475-1800 in Britain, Ireland, overseas territories under British colonial rule, and the United States. 


Google Scholar

Subject: Multidisciplinary
Content: Google Scholar enables you to search for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research. The service can be used to find articles from a wide variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web.


Humanities Index

Subject: Arts, Humanities, Current Affairs, Cultural Studies, Law, Politics, Media Studies
Content: From 1962 onwards. Indexes over 300 humanities journals and weekly magazines published in the UK and other English speaking countries, as well as quality newspapers published in the UK.


JSTOR


Subject: History, Politics, Philosophy, Education, Social Sciences
Content: An archive of the full text of nearly 1,800 of the core research journals in the fields of humanities, social sciences and science. Current journal issues are not included.


LION - Literature Online

Subject: English & American poetry, prose & drama
Content: Runs from the 8th Century to the 21st Century and includes 340,000 works of poetry, 6,000 works of Drama, 2,250 works of prose as well as 180+ journals. LION can be used to cross search the MLA International Bibliography and Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature (ABELL)


MLA International Bibliography

Subject: Linguistics, All Languages, Literature, Critical Theory
Content: A bibliography of journal articles, books and dissertations. Produced by the Modern Language Association, the electronic version of the Bibliography dates back to 1926 and contains over 1.7 million citations from more than 4,400 journals and series and 1,000 book publishers.

Project Muse

Subject: Arts & Humanities
Content: Covering the fields of literature and criticism, history, the visual and performing arts, cultural studies, education, political science and gender studies, Project Muse offers over 500 full text titles from over 60 scholarly publishers.


Sources

Subject: History
Content: A National Library of Ireland database for Irish research, contains the indexes to Irish Manuscripts (from earliest times) and Irish Periodicals (1785 - 1970s).

These sources are also available in the printed indexes edited by Richard J. Hayes: “Manuscript Sources for the History of Irish Civilisation” and “Sources for the History of Irish Civilisation: Articles in Irish Periodicals”


W.B. Yeats Collection

Subject: Multidisciplinary, Science, Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities
Content: A multi-disciplinary citation database covering over 10,000 of the world's highest impact research journals. It consists of the three databases: the Science Citation Index Expanded (1945-present), the Social Sciences Citation Index (1956-present) and Arts & Humanities Citation Index (1975-present).). It also provides cited reference searching.


Wilson Omnifile - (OmniFILE Full Text Mega)

Subject: Multidisciplinary
Content: With the full text of articles from over 2,500 publications, and indexing and abstracts from nearly 3,600 publications, this database provides invaluable support for research in all core undergraduate subjects and for cross-disciplinary work.


 Women Writers Online

Subject: Arts & Humanities
Content: The Brown University Women Writers Project provides access to texts by pre-Victorian women writers and covers a period from 1400 to 1850.
