Mary Immaculate College has once again received the Outstanding International Student Satisfaction Award 2016 from StudyPortals with Ireland being voted the most popular EU country for international student satisfaction.
The StudyPortals International Student Satisfaction Awards 2016 are based on almost 16,000 different reviews by international students, providing rare insights into universities’ performance from a student perspective. Only those institutions with an average rating of 9.5 or higher on the student experience website –SteXX.eu – receive an Award for Outstanding International Student Satisfaction.
The many glowing reviews attributed to MIC included Ellise Chase’s, who studied in MIC earlier this year, and said “I absolutely loved my time [in MIC]. The staff were amazing, the students were helpful and welcoming. I could not have had a better abroad experience!” While Marcus Nuernberg commented that “MIC is a great university! The teachers are incredible. The people from the International Office did everything to make the experience of studying abroad even better! I totally recommend Mary I”.
Speaking on the award Ms Holly Cowman, Director of International Office, said “The International Office is delighted to accept this award on behalf of the entire Mary Immaculate College community. We have professional services staff, faculty and a students’ union that are unmatched in terms of the warm welcome and ongoing pastoral care that international students receive here, while being fully integrated in all aspects of College life. A high quality education, built on a long tradition of commitment to excellence, comes as part of a package that includes a friendly, safe, English-speaking environment, which really nurtures students coming here from all over the world.”
Commenting on the competitive process Edwin van Rest, CEO of StudyPortals said: “With a record number of students choosing to study abroad this year, it is becoming increasingly important that universities focus even more on making sure that students have the best possible experience. They are more critical about where they would like to get their degree from, and the experience of other peers plays an important role in this decision. In the long-term, university reputation is no longer enough to attract the best talent, and students expect their universities to also offer a good service level, a strong international community, promising careers perspectives and a return on their education investment.”
StudyPortals is the international study choice platform, enabling students to find and compare their study options across borders. With over 117,000 published programmes from over 2,400 participating universities and over 16 million visitors per year, StudyPortals is a leading information source for study seekers worldwide.
StudyPortals was initiated out of an international student organization in 2008 and initially focused on the European education market. Since 2014 the organization (with its headquarter in Eindhoven, the Netherlands) expanded its services and is now also covering universities in the US, Canada, Australia and Asia. For universities, StudyPortals is a key channel for international student recruitment.
