Top 4% Achievers Choose Mary Immaculate College, Limerick
Students who ranked amongst the top 4% of CAO point earners this year have chosen Mary Immaculate College (MIC), Limerick as their number one College of choice as MIC continues to attract the highest calibre of student for its four undergraduate programmes.
Once again the College maintained its appeal to those wishing to study Education or the Liberal Arts with all four programmes showing an increase in applications (13%) coupled with a 16% increase in students who chose MIC as their first College of choice.
The College’s primary teaching programme remains one of the most popular in the country with over 2249 applications received for its 405 places resulting in CAO points being set at 465* for this year.
The B.Ed. in Education and Psychology, the only course of its kind in the country, sees its CAO points set at an impressive 550 as it continues to attract the country’s highest achievers.
The Liberal Arts Degree at MIC continues to grow in popularity witnessing a remarkable 52% increase in first preferences. As a result the College has decided to increase the number of places available by 20% to 300 places with CAO points set at 325*.
Similarly, the BA in Early Childhood Care and Education proved very attractive with a 21% increase in first preferences applications resulting in CAO points at 360 points.
Speaking on these results Prof. Eugene Wall, Vice-President Academic Affairs and Registrar of the College, said, "We are delighted that so many school leavers continue to choose Mary Immaculate College as their first College of course. MIC has an excellent reputation for the calibre of students it attracts and graduates it produces. This is once again reflected in the increase in applications we received this year and by the percentage of high point recipients we continue to attract".
