When will I be notified about my conferring ceremony?
Graduation packages will not be sent out. All information relating to your Graduation is available from this website. Should you have any further queries, please e-mail Carrie.Ryan@mic.ul.ie.
What happens if I cannot attend my conferring ceremony?
If you are unable to attend your conferring ceremony, you will be able to inform the college of this via Online Registration, you will be conferred in absentia and your parchment will be posted to you at your college-registered home address unless otherwise requested.
Requests for your parchment to be sent to an address other than your college-registered home address should be sent to Carrie.Ryan@mic.ul.ie - please provide your full name, ID number and course in the e-mail. It should be noted that the names of Graduands who are not in attendance may or may not be called out depending on the circumstances.
Can I defer?
Unfortunately, conferrings cannot be deferred.
When will I get my Parchment?
Your Parchment will be presented to you at the ceremony.
Can I receive my Parchment as Gaeilge?
You can receive your parchment as Gaeilge. If you wish to receive your parchment as Gaeilge you must e-mail Carrie.Ryan@mic.ul.ie by 5pm on Wednesday 11th October 2017 - please provide your full name, ID number and course in the e-mail.
The name on your parchment will be the name under which you registered with the college i.e. the name on your birth cert unless otherwise notified. Notifications should be sent to Carrie.Ryan@mic.ul.ie.
Please note that there is a €60 fee for additional / replacement parchments.
What should I wear?
You are required to wear academic dress, which may be hired from Phelan Conan Associates Ltd., www.phelanconan.com Tel: 01 4295300
When should I arrive?
You are required to be present in the appropriate academic dress and seated in your correct place at least 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the ceremony.
How long does the ceremony last?
Each ceremony can be of different duration. However, the duration of a ceremony can be from one and a half hours to two hours.
How many guests can I bring?
To comply with Fire and Safety regulations it is necessary to restrict the number of guests. All Graduands are entitled to 3 invitation tickets with the exception of the Graduands on the Certificate in Leadership for Inclusion in the Early Years who are entitled to 2 tickets. The Graduand does not need a ticket. We trust that you will understand the constraints that have dictated this limitation.
Can children attend?
Yes. In light of past experience it will also be necessary to seat parents with young children (under 8) in T1 where they will be able to view the proceedings on closed-circuit television.
Is there access for people with special needs?
Yes. If a graduand, or a guest, has special needs please do not hesitate to contact our Access and Disability Officer: Ms. Maura Moore. Tel:061-204927 or Email Maura.Moore@mic.ul.ie so that we may ensure your comfort and your enjoyment of the Ceremony.
Is there a photography service on campus?
Layafette Photography www.lafayette.ie are the appointed official College photographers for the forthcoming graduation. Lafayette and their team will be present in Tara building for the duration of the various ceremonies.
Please note that Lafayette Photography are the only official photographers approved by the College and no other professional photographers will be permitted on the campus on Graduation Day.
What are the car parking arrangements?
Due to the limited parking facilities on the grounds and the large numbers attending, it would be in your own interest to make alternative parking arrangements. Please take note of the Garda Siochána message on the left.
What refreshments are available?
Each ceremony will be followed by a complimentary reception in the Main College building, including tea/coffee and a light buffet for you and your guests.
