Research Interests: Urbanisation in Ireland, the development of the Irish urban system, and its role as mediator of regional development; spatial planning; intra-urban patterns of social differentiation with particular focus on polarisation, segregation and social exclusion; regional economic change.

Current Teaching: Biogeography; Introduction to Physical Geography; Environmental Change; Palaeoecology and Environmental Issues.

Research Interests: Environmental change, aquatic ecosystem dynamics, palaeolimnology, water quality, ecological modelling (catchment and in-lake modelling), climate change, eutrophication, wetlands, ecosystem stability.
