Invitation to the Seminar of Luce Irigaray

14 - 19 June 2010

Luce Irigaray to visit Mary Immaculate College

Luce Irigaray is one of the most pre-eminent philosophers of our times. Her work has developed over the last four decades during the course of which she has published over forty books translated into many languages. Her work continues to question the academic community as well as people engaged in social, cultural and political issues. It also forms the basis for a new way of engaging with many timely and pertinent matters that include globalisation, environmental care, and interaction between cultures. This secures her position as a philosopher of our times who is thinking toward the construction of a new world capable of taking into account and transforming into opportunities the problems of our epoch.

Each year Luce Irigaray holds an international seminar devoted to postgraduate students who are doing their PhD on her work. This remarkable gesture of generosity towards those at the beginning of their academic journey proves her will to truly embody and practice that which she writes so eloquently about. We are delighted to announce that this seminar is being hosted from June 14-19 in 2010 by Mary Immaculate College.
