Colleen Grace Granger
After a twenty-two year hiatus from my studies I decided that the time had come for me to secure my future. I received my Bachelors degree in Creative Writing at Eckerd College, Saint Petersburg, Florida in the United States and searched the web for my next step in furthering not only my career but also my place in a changing world. It was then I found Mary Immaculate College, Limerick.
My arrival in Ireland came in December of 2002 and after speaking with Dr. Eugene O'Brien, Head of Department at Mary Immaculate College, it was clear that my search and desire in attaining a Masters Degree in English Literature had found its place. What made the journey to my present status of working toward a Doctoral Degree in Modern English Literature such a pleasure was the degree of personal attention by all of the academic staff. Their encouragement and support has been limitless.
After completing my MA in Modern English Literature at Mary Immaculate it was only logical to continue as lecturing at University level is my goal. Native American Literature is the concern of my dissertation and I plan to examine the historical effects of colonialism not only on the culture but also to do an in depth study of their present writings and its literary value, a study that has yet to be fully comprehended by the academic community in America.
I encourage anyone to contact Mary Immaculate if you are searching for a goal that includes an incredible academic journey.
