Children’s Independent Mobility, which may be defined as the level of freedom children have to make journeys on their own, is integral to the exercise of children’s rights.  Children’s ability to travel and move about in their communities e.g. to walk or cycle to school, the shops, friends’ houses and recreational facilities, is indicative of the value our society places on children.  This research articulates the views and experiences of children and their parents on how children travel, and what they think of amenities, facilities and infrastructure.
