WELCOME TO THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE
Hello and welcome to the Admissions Office. My name is Anne-Marie Hannon and I am the Admissions Officer at Mary Immaculate College.
Together with my colleague Lillian Monahan, we provide information on courses to all prospective undergraduate (including mature students) and postgraduate students.
The Admissions Office is located within the Student Services Office which is room 112 in the Main Building and we are open from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 2.00pm to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. |
Please feel free to call into the office during these opening hours and Lillian or I will be more than happy to answer any admissions queries you may have as you consider third level education at Mary Immaculate College.
Role of the Admissions Office
To ensure that entry standards for all courses as determined by the Academic Council are implemented.
To receive student applications and manage their progression from application through to offer of places and enrolment on the College's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study.
To plan and coordinate the orientation programme for incoming students.
Services provided by Admissions Office
Processing of Applications & Student Enrolment: The management of the application process includes acknowledging applications, arranging interviews and selection tests where appropriate, offering places on each course, whether through the CAO or directly to applicants.The Admissions Office coordinates the orientation programme for new students, including the distribution of orientation packs prior to their arrival and the enrolment of students when they first arrive on campus.
Assisting with the promotion of the College's programmes through attendance at Career's Exhibitions.
Enquiry Service: The Admissions Office responds to queries from the public via phone, fax, email and in person at the Student Services Counter.
Distribution of undergraduate and postgraduate prospectuses to prospective students.
How to Avail of Services:
Procedure for Undergraduate Admissions:
Applications to undergraduate degree programmes are normally made through the Central Applications office (CAO) in Galway.
However, for some some categories of undergraduate applicants (e.g., mature students, transfer students, applicants seeking exemption from at least the first year of a programme of study and applicants seeking re-admission to the College), application is made directly through the Admissions Office, Mary Immaculate College.

Application forms for all taught postgraduate programmes, with the exception of the Graduate Diploma/M.Ed in Special Education Needs, should be obtained from and returned directly to the Admissions Office, Mary Immaculate College

Procedure for Postgraduate Research Applications:
The Postgraduate Studies Application Form should be obtained from the Admissions Office but must be returned directly to the Postgraduate Studies Office, Mary Immaculate College. Intending applicants are also invited to discuss their proposed topic with a member of faculty whose research interests may be relevant to the proposed topic. International Students:
Applications from visiting Erasmus exchange students are made to the Placement Office and applications from all other categories of international students are made to the International Office at holly.cowman@mic.ul.ie
