Pregnant and Breastfeeding Employees
All pregnant and breastfeeding employees are strongly advised to report their pregnancy as early as possible to the Director of human resources so that a Pregnant Employee Risk Assessment can be carried out by the Health and Safety Office.
Under the Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work Act 2005, and the Pregnant Employees Regulations 2007, a risk assessment of a pregnant employee's job or of a ’new’ mother (that is a woman who has given birth within the last six months and who is breast feeding) must be conducted to ensure any risk to the health and safety of the employee /unborn child is assessed and controlled.
