Child Protection

Mary Immaculate College wishes to ensure that it maintains the highest possible standards to meet its duty to protect and safeguard those children and young people with whom we work.  Our policy on child protection is in accordance with “Children First” (The National Guidelines for the Protection and Welfare of Children 2011).  The College will endeavour to ensure that children, young people and vulnerable adults are protected and kept safe from harm while taking part in or attending College activities and events.  The College Safeguarding Policy provides information, so as to ensure children are not placed at risk by College activities.  It is the duty of each member of the College Community to comply with the guidelines.

The Designated Liaison Person will act as a resource to any member of the College who has a child protection query or concern.  The Designated Liaison Person will also be responsible for reporting suspicions or allegations of child abuse as appropriate and in line with Children First, College policy and any statutory measures introduced

The Designated Liaison Persons for the College are Carrie Ryan, Student Academic Administration Department, Ext 4921, email Carrie.Ryan@mic.ul.ie

Dr Geraldine Brosnan, Director of Student Life, email Geraldine.Brosnan@mic.ul.ie
