Position: Principal Lecturer and Head of Department

Current Teaching: Urbanisation, Urban Geography and Planning; Economic Geography.

Research Interests: Urbanisation in Ireland, the development of the Irish urban system, and its role as mediator of regional development; spatial planning; intra-urban patterns of social differentiation with particular focus on polarisation, segregation and social exclusion; regional economic change.

Current Teaching:  Processes and Patterns in Human Geography; Political Geography; Research Methods and Mapping; Evolution of the Irish Cultural Landscape; Maps in Local Studies; Tourism and Heritage Management.

Research Interests: Society and settlement in medieval and 17th century Ireland; social and spatial change in 19th century Irish cities, with particular reference to Limerick city; historical archives & cartography; nations and nationalism in contemporary Europe; the changing nature of the State
