Applications will be considered in the following topic areas

- Children’s Independent mobility
- Ireland’s Changing Geographies of Immigration
- Using a political ecology framework to examine human-environment interactions
The Geography Department at Mary Immaculate College provides a supportive environment for students wishing to undertake research degrees, both to Masters (MA) and Doctoral (PhD) level. Supervision is available in the following specialist areas:
Economic, Urban and Rural Geography:
Historical and Political Geography:
General requirements and regulations follow those set out by the University of Limerick. While the minimum entry requirement for both the research MA and PhD is a 2:2 honours primary degree, it is likely that successful candidates will have a 2:1 honours degree or higher.
There is a range of financial mechanisms to support post-graduate research in geography. This includes a limited number of assistantships.
