The BLU and the ICT Services department jointly manage and support staff, faculty and students in the use of our virtual learning environment (VLE), Moodle.
MIC’s Moodle environment enables our faculty to manage their course materials in a virtual setting where students have access to them. Moodle provides a range of communication tools, such as discussion forums, blogs, and wikis. This means that the lines of communication between staff and students are always open and peer collaboration can happen easily.
Moodle facilitates online course delivery while also complementing traditional face-to-face instruction in a blended learning approach. Our academic staff use Moodle to create and host course materials, quizzes and assessments based around instruction delivered in their live lectures.

Staff queries relating to Moodle login and Moodle course enrolment can be sent to the ICT Helpdesk by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Staff queries relating to course design and development, online assessments, or pedagogical enhancement using Moodle can be emailed to email@example.com. Alternatively, come along to one of our Moodle Clinics.
Moodle Clinics for staff take place every Monday and Wednesday from 10 am to 12 pm in T209. These clinics cover topics such as:
- Preparing your Moodle course for the new semester
- Enrolling students on your Moodle course
- Adding resources and activities to your Moodle course
- Setting up assignments and quizzes on Moodle
